Kibwezi West MP Mwengi Mutuse has expressed his pride and satisfaction following the Senate’s decision to impeach Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua. Kibwezi West MP Mwengi Mutuse said it took bravery to table motion against Gachagua. Mutuse, the mover of the impeachment motion in the National Assembly, took to social media moments after the announcement to celebrate the success of the charges he had initiated against Gachagua. The legislator highlighted the bravery and courage it took to spearhead the impeachment of a sitting Deputy President, a first in Kenya’s political history. Mutuse expressed his deep love for the country, underscoring his commitment to upholding the Constitution and ensuring that leaders in positions of power abide by the law. “It took bravery and courage. It was duty for my country. I love Kenya,” he added. Why is Mutuse proud Mutuse acknowledged the gravity of the situation, noting that his name would go down in history as the first Kenyan to impeach a sitting Deputy President. He reminded fellow leaders to uphold their mandate as provided in the 2010 Constitution.
“Those of us in leadership must henceforth leave to the letter and spirit of of our Constitution and Laws. I’m proud that I go to the annuls of history as the first Kenyan to impeach a sitting Deputy President,” the MP remarked. Mutuse defends his evidence On Thursday, October 17, Kibwezi West MP Mwengi Mutuse was taken to task by senators over the evidence he tabled against the Deputy President. Some senators wondered why Mutuse admitted that some of the companies listed in the impeachment motion were not linked to Gachagua. However, the lawmaker defended himself, arguing that the purpose of his motion was not to prove criminal or civil culpability.
