Mlolongo: Silent Prayers as Houses Submerge after Heavy Downpour

 

Kenyans across the country continue to grapple with anguish as persistent heavy rainfall causes huge losses as properties get destroyed and lives lost. Video showing houses submerged in water after a heavy downpour in Mlolongo, Machakos county. Torrential rains continue to pound most parts of the country, rendering many roads impassable, while the County Governments are struggling to address the challenging conditions. A video on social media has garnered attention after displaying houses in Mlolongo, Machakos county, submerged in water after a heavy downpour. A voice of a woman in the video is heard expressing shock and disbelief over the sight of the tragic incident. " Oh no! Oh my lord! Hii maji ni mingi (This loosely translates to, this is a lot of water)," people are heard saying in the background. The video, which appeared to be taken from a moving vehicle on a flyover, showed some buildings partially submerged while others were almost wholly submerged, with only the rooftops seen from afar.
