Francis Ogolla's Dad's 100th Birthday Celebrations to Go on as Planned on Saturday, Family Announces

 

The family of the late KDF boss has invited Kenyans to their home on Saturday, April 20. The late Francis Ogolla's sister, Peris Achieng' (far left), and their patriarch, Mzee Joel Oketch (far right). Oketch's centenary birthday would be held on April 20.  In an interview, Ogolla's sister Peris spoke of the bond she had with her brother, revealing that they loved and adored each other. She revealed that her brother had named her daughter after her, and she had named her son after him. The two were simply inseparable. She also disclosed that they had talked on Wednesday, April 17, before his demise.  "We were very close. because my brother, when I gave birth to a son, I called my son Omondi; he is now late. Then he gave birth to a girl, the girl was named Achieng. That means how close we were. I feel my light has been shut. We talked we were organising for baba's birthday and we gave our children the task to be the lead and organise for the bash. On Sunday, we were going to have prayer thanksgiving because he build a church and that church was going to e dedicated to God." The two were to meet on Thursday, April 18 to make the final arrangement. "He told me that on Thursday he will be in Kisumu. When I heard the news I was shocked because I wanted to travel from Kisumu to home. My father's birthday party was going to turn to my father's funeral. Since Francis wanted people to come and eat, please come and eat. You are welcome to eat. We had already prepared for meals."
