Mercy Nelima prepared her son, three-year-old Liam Kipruto, for school as usual, oblivious to the imminent tragedy. He was a pupil at Goodrich International School situated in Katani, Machakos county. As it were, Mercy waited for her son Friday evening, but he would not be seen at home at the routine time the school bus dropped pupils. “He was to be dropped back between 4.00pm to 4.30pm latest. He never came, my son never came back to us,” she said. While still waiting for him, Mercy got a call from one of the school’s representatives informing her that her son was no more.
