Arsenal fan dies in tragic debate about match against Man United
Sunday's September 3, 2023 game where Arsenal and Manchester United put on a thrilling encounter at the Emirates Stadium with the Gunners claiming victory ended tragically for one of their fans in Uganda.
According to Uganda's Monitor a 22-year-old Man United fan who has since gone into hiding fatally stabbed his friend a 21-year-old Arsenal fan following a heated debate about the match.
The two football fanatics' argument escalated in the 88th minute when Man Utd substitute Alejandro Garnacho's goal was adjudged offside by VAR.
"It is alleged that on the evening of September 3, 2023, the victim developed a misunderstanding with the suspect in a video hall while watching a football match between Manchester United vs. Arsenal," Bushenyi police spokesperson Marcial Tumusiime told the press.
According to the police boss, the victim died from stab wounds.
"The two later went to one of the bas but they were ejected because they were quarrelling. This forced the suspect to run after the victim whom he stabbed in the chest with a sharp object. The victim is said to have bled to death after the attack," Tumusiime added.
Police have launched a manhunt for the suspect.
"The suspect's open shoes were also recovered from the scene. The victim's body was later taken to Kobwohe Health Centre IV for postmortem," the police spokesperson said noting that a piece of stick stained with blood was also recovered from the scene. BY K24 NEWS
