Gachagua Does Not Want This Country To Unite, Wants To Blackmail Ruto - MP David Pkosing

Pokot South Member of Parliament David Pkosing has opined that the Kenya Kwanza coalition is conflicted as the President and his deputy seem to not be reading from the same script.

In Pkosing's view, President William Ruto has always welcomed talks with the opposition to tone down the political tiff but DP Rigathi Gachagua has always dismissed them.

Pkosing claimed that Ruto is under siege from his deputy, arguing that it is crippling the Head of State in administering his duties.

"If you look at the body language of the President he wants talks and wants to unite this country and that has been his body language from the beginning even in the bipartisan talks of five members," he said on Citizen TV's Daybreak Show on Tuesday.

"You could see who represented the President and who represented the Deputy President. The DP does not want this country to unite and they want to blackmail the president."

His claims were however rebutted by National Assembly Majority whip Sylvanus Osoro who said that the opposition is hellbent on tainting Gachagua as a political antagonist, arguing that the DP has the nation's best interests at heart.

"Many things that the Deputy President says are not very new its only that nobody has the confidence to say them in public. I like him for who he is, he says things as they are. He is focused on unifying this country," he said.

This comes amid anticipated negotiations between Kenya Kwanza and the Azimio la Umoja coalitions mediated by former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo.

This was revealed on Sunday by former Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Peter Munya at a media conference called by the Azimio coalition in Nairobi.

The meeting would be confirmed much later by the Head of State, who stated that the initial meeting was intended to lay the groundwork for the dialogue.

Meanwhile, Azimio has already named its five-member delegation team led by Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka.

Other members include Minority Party leader Opiyo Wandayi DAP Party leader Eugene Wamalwa, Nyamira Senator Okon'go Omogeni and Malindi MP Amina Mnyazi.

The high cost of living, a review of the 2022 General Election, and the bipartisan re-organisation of Kenya's electoral commission are some of the issues the Azimio delegation plans to bring up.

Other issues include respect for political parties in accordance with the constitution and inclusivity in governmental affairs.   BY CITIZEN DIGITAL
