Police battle pockets of anti-government protesters in Kisii

Riot police in Kisii are battling pockets of anti-government protesters from street to street.

Spontaneous demos erupted outside the bus park, areas near Kisii Central SDA church and outside Aghakan Hospital.

By 10:30 am, anti-government demos were going on across the streets though most were quickly suppressed.

Protests were especially intense along the Kisii-Kisumu road.

Outside Ouru towers daring youth lit fires but were quickly dispersed and the fire was put out.

Huge rocks littering the road were also removed by police.

Boda bodas were also not visible in the town from the Capital Round About and other stages across the vast county.

Most businesses now remain shut —Banks, cafeterias and supermarkets that had initially opened were also shut.     BY THE STAR
