Great improvement for Team Kenya at Africa Beach Games
Team Kenya improved on their medal tally at the just-concluded second edition of Africa Beach Games in Hammamet, Tunisia after winning five medals in total.
This was an improvement from the 2019 inaugural edition where Kenya managed just three medals.
The women’s 3x3 basketball team secured bronze while the women's double tennis team that consisted of Faith Urasa and Shufaa Ruwa Changawa, managed silver.
The duo of Mathayo Mahabila and Mark Omumasaba won bronze and silver in the 80kgs and 90kgs wresting categories respectively. Another silver medal was won by the women's handball team.
“We are delighted with our performance as a team. We have worked really hard for the result we achieved," basketballer, Margaret Nerea observed.
Kenya lost 18-10 to Mali despite putting up a brave show.
Skipper Mary Lisa Omond added: “ We lost due to the small errors in defence and our passing under the rim need to be fine-tuned. All in all, we are proud for the milestone achievement."
