Maliza Uhalifu troops heighten patrols in North Rift

Troops deployed into bandit-prone areas of the North Rift have intensified patrols in the general areas of Naudo, Akwichatis, Silale and Paka Hills in Baringo County.

The multi-agency troops comprise Kenya Defence Forces and the National Police Service under the ‘Operation Maliza Uhalifu’ North Rift.

During the patrol, the troops managed to recover 15 stolen livestock with the assistance of the local administration and the elders.

In collaboration with the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC), the soldiers also held a Key Leadership Engagement(KLE) which saw over 30 elders attend with the main agenda being security.

The officers also distributed clean water and foodstuffs to the residents and administered medical services to those in need.

A statement released by the KDF on Monday said the local population appreciated the security team’s effort towards the restoration of peace and stability for socioeconomic prosperity.

Speaking during the patrol, Officer Commanding, Major David Wema, reassured the residents of the government’s commitment to restore peace in the region and called for collective efforts in addressing the banditry menace which has adversely affected the region.

The heightened joint patrols and Key Leadership Engagement continue to have a positive impact as normalcy returns to the region.         BY THE STAR
