A Form 3 student is currently admitted at a hospital in Kericho after allegedly taking an overdose of an assortment of medical drugs on Wednesday night.
The incident has left residents of Kaptien tea estate in Konoin, Bomet county, in shock.
Residents told Wananchi Reporting that the student ingested the drugs at her parent’s home.
He was rescued by security guards manning the tea farm – and rushed to a hospital in Kericho after exhibiting severe stomach pain and cramps.
Reports indicate that the student may have ingested a cocktail of drugs including a cough syrup following a disagreement at home.
A witness said that the student had been complaining after he was reportedly moved from a boarding secondary school to a day school.
The incident was not reported to the police.
Residents are raising concern over rising cases of people attempting to die by suicide.
