Nairobi Half life’s Maina Olwenya’s mother recalls phone call about his death
A sombre mood engulfed the village where the late Nairobi Half life actor Maina Olwenya was buried.
The late Olwenya was eulogized as a man loved by many.
His mother paid tribute saying “my dear son, I gave birth to you you were a source of joy and happiness. I remember how you used to bring your friends home and gave them sleepover and tell stories the whole night. I will miss your impromptu home visits”

The mother was also looking forward to seeing a home he had promised to buy her “My son you promised me lots of things , a better future, taking me for trips and shows, you promised to put up a business for me, Now that you are gone where do I start? You had said you would take me to Nanyuki and surprise me with a fully furnished house . Where are you now my son?”
The mother told Maina had a nickname for her revealing “You used to call me MAIRUTU NYAMBURA asking me ‘katoto kangu watinda atia. I will miss those phone calls and text messages asking me about my whereabouts. “

“I remember getting that phone call that Monday evening. I have been hopeful and praying you would wake up and I will take you home and cook for you. I will miss you greatly my son Willy “

Olwenya’s siblings also addressed mourners revealing sweet memories of Maina.
One brother said “Maina bro, I may be in denial because I keep hoping to wake up from this nightmare. How do I say goodbye to a brother, a great friend? How do I replace you?’
another brother mourned “I found a song that you like yesterday. and the first thought was you like it too. You have broken me in many ways I never thought possible and i don’t think I’m ever coming back from that .You taught me a love so pure you didn’t give up[ on me”
