Emgwen MP aspirant drops out of UDA nominations
Emgwen Constituency MP aspirant Meshack Kimutai has announced that he is dropping out of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) nomination exercise.
In a press statement released on Wednesday, Kimutai said the process was not fair and free as it was intended to be.
"Right from the beginning, there was a plot to rig nominations," he added.
He further explained that the County Returning Officer presented a list of predetermined Constituencies' ROs during an aspirants' meeting, which was dismissed and the right vetting process followed.
The Nairobi Businessman, however, said that the correction exercise was futile as he does not have faith in the nominations anymore.
The UDA nominations will be carried out on Thursday, April 14, across the country.
Kimutai added that what will happen in Nandi County will not be fair nominations.
He assured his supporters that he will be back.
'To Team MK, my supporters and the great people of Emngwen, we will be back bigger and better in another form," he said.
Kimutai registered for UDA nominations on March 4.
The Emgwen MP seat is currently held by Alex Kosgei, son of former Minister of Industrialization, Henry Kosgei.
Other parliamentary aspirants include Harry Kipruto, a businessman in Kapsabet, Nandi Woman Representative Teclah Tum, former Woman Rep Ziporah Kering and Nandi Kuppet executive secretary Paul Rotich, among others. BY THE STAR
