Gov't Agency Recovers Ksh.3.1 Million In Jacket Shipped To Kenya From The US
The Assets Recovery Agency (ARA) has moved to court seeking orders to forfeit some Ksh.3.1 million recovered in a jacket that had been shipped into the country from the US.
According to the agency, the jacket was in a parcel that was sent to City Square Post office in Nairobi addressed to a Mr. Peter Oluwafemi Olaiwon; a Nigerian national. The parcel also contained several other clothes.
It is alleged that the money was in the jacket together with other clothes.
According to ARA, the said money is believed to be proceeds of crime and should be forfeited.
The agency submitted in court that there is reasonable suspicion that Olaiwon is planning to launder the said money, adding that he did not tender any reasonable evidence to authenticate the legitimacy of the said money. BY CITIZEN DIGITAL
