Rains to continue across several parts of Kenya - Weatherman

 

Several parts of the country are likely to continue receiving rainfall, the weatherman has said.

"Isolated storms are likely to occur over some parts of the Southeastern Lowlands and the Highlands East of the Rift Valley," the Met department has said.

This comes even as rains pounded parts of the country on Monday night and Tuesday morning.

A section of Mombasa Road was flooded affecting the flow of traffic on the busy highway and could lead to a longer stay on the road.

Nairobi is experiencing sporadic rains which have caused the flooding at the site. 

Last week, the weatherman said rainfall will continue in most parts of the country over a five-day period.

Kenya Meteorological Department director Stella Aura said showers and thunderstorms will be experienced in several parts of Western, Nyanza, Rift Valley and North Western, including Lake Turkana region.

According to the climate outlook for October-November-December, short rains in several parts of the country will be depressed (below average) and poorly distributed.

Aura said there will be isolated storms, even in areas of depressed rains. The storms may cause flash floods.

The showers will be in Nyeri, Murang’a, Kirinyaga, Embu, Meru, Kiambu, Tharaka Nithi, Laikipia, Nyandarua and Nairobi.
