Diesel price falls by Sh2 as petrol rises

The price of super petrol in Nairobi has increased by Sh0.72 per liter while diesel has decreased by Sh2.18 per liter in the latest price review by EPRA on Wednesday.

Kerosene price remains unchanged, taking effect from October 15 to November 14, 2020.

The prices are inclusive of the 8 per cent VAT in line with the provisions of the Finance Act 2018.

According to the authority, this month’s prices are a consequence of the average landed cost of imported super petrol increasing by 1.12 per cent and diesel decreasing by 5.42 per cent.

Petrol in Mombasa will retail at Sh104.86 per liter, diesel at Sh90.53 while kerosene will retail at Sh81.37.

In Nairobi, petrol will cost motorists Sh107.27 while diesel will be Sh92.91 as kerosene will be sold at Sh83.73.

Nakuru residents will buy a liter of petrol at Sh106.96 while diesel will cost the Sh92.85 as kerosene will be Sh83.69.

Motorists in Kisumu will buy petrol at Sh107.88 while diesel will cost them Sh93.77 and kerosene will be sold at Sh84.60.

Earlier this month, the regulator raised the price of petrol, diesel, and kerosene.

The regulator said that the action came about following the move by the Kenya Revenue Authority to adjust upwards the Excise Duty on Super Petrol, Diesel, and Kerosene.

It added that the action has been prompted by the average inflation rate of 4.94 per cent for the financial year 2019/2020.
