23 Turkana teachers arrested for defying State on public gathering

Twenty three teachers  have been arrested for defying government directive to combat coronavirus.
Turkana Central Sub County commander David Mburukwa said that the management of the school had forced teachers from different counties to converge in Turkana so that they teach students through online system.
"They were teaching students online contrary to what government had warned of public gathering to avoid the spread of coronavirus spread," Mburukwa said.
Mburukwa said 38 teachers  managed to escape when police officers stormed  mission of hope school at Napuu, Lodwar where they were hiding.
"We found the teachers converged in a classroom carrying on with their activities. We managed to get the register attendance that disclosed they have been undertaking different activities in school," he said. 
Mburukwa said the teachers will be taken to quarantine at Lodwar Referral Hospital.
He sounded a warning to teachers and other people that no training should be conducted and if its online learning should be done in homes and not to converge in schools.
