A man from Gaturi village in Kiharu Constituency, Murang’a County has killed his father, 68, in what locals associate with his drug abuse habits.
An angry mob Friday reiterated by attacking and beating up the suspect, who is now fighting for is life at the Murang’a General Hospital.
Murang’a County Police Commander Josephat Kinyua said they have launched investigations to establish what led the man to kill his father.
But he said that preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect was under the influence of drugs.
DRUGS
“We have initiated investigations to understand what led to the man killing his father but there are indications that the suspect is a notorious abuser of drugs. He is recuperating at Murang’a hospital,” Mr Kinyua said.
Locals said the suspect is a graduate of Egerton University from where they said he picked his habit of abusing drugs.
“Before joining university, the suspect was a peaceful and quite man. He was never involved in criminal activities. But we think peer pressure and bad company led to him abusing hard drugs,” locals said.
They painted a picture of a man who lived in mystery in an iron-sheet house which is covered with garments.
