All the officers in charge of the prison were transferred to a major overhaul

All officers in charge of prisons in Kenya have been moved into a new major overhaul.

After the transfer, Principal Secretary of Corrections Services Zainab Hussein Sunday gave the affected staff one week to report to their new station.

Ms Hussein also said that he would personally issue the authority to issue expenses (AIE) to officers at their new station.

The latest reshuffle took place when the Criminal Investigation Directorate (DCI) had stopped the release of 120 felons under the President's Forgiveness Scheme over alleged bribes of prison officials who chose convicts to be released.

A fingerprint analysis by DCI revealed that on the list were hard prisoners who were not eligible to be released under presidential forgiveness.
