The first phase of compensating residents affected by the expansion of Malindi Airport will be completed by December this year.

The Kenya Airports Authority has completed mapping out the area earmarked for the expansion of the Malindi Airport Runway from the current 1.4 kilometres to 2.5 kilometres which falls in the second phase of the airport expansion.
Tourism stakeholders have lauded the move terming it as a boost to the sector.
The authority is engaging the Lands ministry on the acquisition of 139 hectares of land required for the second phase.
