Two police officers attached to Kayole Police Station have been shot dead in the Nairobian suburb.
Their colleagues from the nearby Kirima Administration Police Camp found their bodies on the road at 4am Saturday.
CARTRIDGES
“They received information that gunshots were heard in Matopeni area. The officers responded and on arrival at the road towards Kayole North Primary School they found two bodies,” a police report on the incident and seen by the Nation states.
The dead were identified as Police Constables Linus Inima and James Gitahi.
The killers also took two pistols— a Jericho and a Ceska.
Eleven spent 7.62mm cartridges were found at the scene, suggesting the killers used a rifle, possibly an AK-47 rifle.
BODIES
The bodies were transported to Kenyatta University Hospital Mortuary.
Kenya police have been clashing with protesters opposed to repeat presidential election held on Thursday.
Kayole was among Nairobi suburbs affected by the violence but it was not immediately clear if the killings were linked to the poll.
