Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi on Thursday welcomed the Dawoodi Bohra community’s Spiritual Leader, Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin, who is in Kenya for a brief visit.
In a statement, the Prime CS noted that his presence reflects the enduring relationship between the Bohra community and the Kenyan nation.
“His visit reflects the deep, longstanding ties between the community and our nation,” he said.
Mudavadi lauded the community for its longstanding contribution to the country’s economic and social development.
He noted that the Shia Muslim community has been part of Kenya’s history for more than a century, earning recognition for its entrepreneurship, philanthropy, and deep integration into the country’s social fabric.
Mudavadi highlighted the community’s significant economic footprint, saying Bohras have played an important role in expanding Kenya’s manufacturing base through investments in glass, aluminium and paper production.
He added that their enterprises extend to real estate, infrastructure development, and the banking sector, supporting jobs, innovation and long-term growth.
Beyond commerce, he praised the community’s philanthropic work, especially in health and education initiatives that uplift vulnerable groups and expand opportunities for many Kenyans.
“These contributions are visible across the country and affirm a shared commitment to dignity, progress, and inclusive development,” Mudavadi noted.
