Construction of the Bomas International Convention Complex (BICC) is progressing steadily, with the government projecting completion by April 2026.
President William Ruto said the multi-billion-shilling facility is being developed to meet modern global standards in conferencing and is intended to position Kenya as the continent’s premier meetings destination.
“Construction of the Bomas International Convention Complex is progressing well. The project is being delivered around the clock, employing up to 3,000 workers daily, to ensure it is completed by April 2026,” he said.
“It is designed to meet modern global conference standards and positions Kenya as Africa’s leading conference destination.”

The facility, located adjacent to the existing Bomas of Kenya cultural centre in Nairobi, has been cited as a flagship project in the push to boost business tourism and attract high-profile events to the country.
Government officials say the complex will include a main plenary hall, breakout conference rooms, an exhibition space and support facilities capable of hosting thousands of delegates.
Ruto added that the investment is already yielding results in the global meetings market, noting that international organisers have begun confirming events ahead of completion.
“The facility has already been booked to host the France Africa Summit on May 12, 2026, even before completion. This demonstrates our commitment to delivering world class infrastructure that propels Kenya towards first world status,” he said.
Upon completion, the BICC will be part of a growing portfolio of national infrastructure designed to support business tourism and reinforce Kenya’s international profile as a preferred destination for global gatherings.
