Kenyan Lifestyle: 10 Insights From a Nigerian Visitor

A Nigerian artist has shared a detailed account of the cultural differences and surprises he encountered during his recent visit to Kenya. In a video circulating on social media, he highlighted ten observations that stood out to him during his stay.

Here are the ten things that he noted;

 

Stable Economy

The artist noted that Kenya’s economy appeared stable during his visit. He said the prices of basic goods had remained unchanged from the first day he arrived, something he described as unusual compared to what he was used to.

 

Transportation System

He pointed out that the transportation system in Kenya was more organised than he expected. According to him, the availability of different transport options made movement across the city easier.

 

Tattoo Culture

He observed that tattoos were more widely accepted in Kenya, especially among women. He said that in Nigeria, people with tattoos were often viewed as irresponsible, while in Kenya it appeared to be a common form of expression.

 

Unchanging Prices

The artist repeated that the price stability of goods was unexpected. He said that even after several days, supermarket and service charges had remained steady.

Daily Traffic

He also highlighted heavy traffic as part of the Kenyan experience. He said congestion was a daily occurrence in major towns, especially Nairobi.

 

Abundant Wi-Fi Availability

The artist noted that Wi-Fi was available almost everywhere he visited. He said this was a convenience he had not anticipated.

High-Rise Buildings

He mentioned that Kenya had more high-rise buildings than he expected to see. According to him, the landscape was defined by tall commercial and residential structures.

High Level of Development

The artist described Kenya as very developed and visually appealing. He said the level of infrastructure he encountered exceeded his expectations.

This is not the first time that visitors have commented about Kenya developments a recent visitor from Uganda also highlighted about the high developments and the good infrastructure in Nairobi unlike in his country.

Westernised Behaviour

He observed that many Kenyans behaved like Westerners in that they know how to mind their business.

Love for Drinking

The artist also pointed out that Kenyans enjoyed drinking. He said social spaces were lively and active throughout the week.

 

Beautiful Women

Finally, he noted that Kenyan women were beautiful. He said this was something he found noticeable everywhere he visited.
