Beauty mogul Huddah Monroe has ignited a stir online after using her Instagram Stories to detail a recent upsetting encounter and issue a stark warning to Kenyan men.
The entrepreneur stated she wished to hold a CNN press conference to officially ban these men from speaking to her unless she initiates the conversation.
Friday Night Friction at JW Marriott
The incident unfolded on a Friday, which Monroe intended as a quiet end to a long, exhausting day.
She was near the JW Marriott hotel, minding her own business and seeking peace. However, three Kenyan men began trying to address her, using the greeting “hola”.
Monroe explained that she ignored them, not out of pride, but because she was tired and had “nothing left to give”.
Despite this silence, one of the men insisted they knew each other, a claim she denies.
She later reflected that perhaps she should have explained herself or tried to soften the moment. However, she stated she has learned that sometimes silence is safer than kindness.
The Line Was Crossed
Monroe claims that her refusal to engage angered the man. She suggested his ego was bruised, and he was angry because “I didn’t shrink myself to make him feel bigger”.
The encounter escalated when the man allegedly threw an insult. Monroe described this as the kind of insult men use when they feel small and threatened.
The verbal attack resulted in her being called a “hoe”. She noted the absurdity of how quickly a woman can transition from being seen as “beautiful” to being called “a hoe” simply for setting a boundary.
“It was ridiculously laughable, because it’s wild how quickly a woman can go from being ‘beautiful’ to being ‘a hoe’ the moment she sets a boundary”.
Although she walked away pretending not to care, she admitted the words affected her. This was due to the societal expectation for women to smile, respond, and entertain, or face verbal punishment.

Seeking a CNN Ban
The beauty mogul expressed profound contempt for the behaviour, asserting that men who behave this way lack respect for women and cannot take care of them.
She warned that if Kenyan men see her anywhere, they should “DO NOT EVER COME CLOSE TO ME,” unless they are a relative or she greets them first. She emphasised that she pities any woman married to such a man.
“I wish I could do a press conference on CNN to ban any Kenyan man from ever speaking to me if they see me anywhere. Unless I speak to them. Most have disgusting, disrespectful behaviors”.
Generation Z Shows Greater Respect
In a generational comparison, Huddah Monroe highlighted a clear preference for younger men.
She stated that the only Kenyan men who can talk to her are Gen Z. She finds Gen Z guys to be “very respectful”.
She contrasted them sharply with older groups, stating that “Millennials and WANTAM age” are merely a “product of their environment”.
