Musician and businesswoman Akothee has shared a harrowing account of a medical emergency that sent her to the hospital. Posting from her hospital bed, the popular star narrated a night of severe pain that saw her collapse in the washroom.
The ordeal began after watching a distressing video, which she says triggered her near-fatal episode. The businesswoman also detailed a shocking lack of care from a nurse upon arriving at the emergency room.
Severe Pain and Collapse
Akothee’s emergency started early on a Sunday morning. She revealed that she was suffering from intense stomach pain, vomiting, and diarrhoea. The symptoms began overnight and intensified severely by 5:00 a.m.
“I was vomiting, diarrhearing, my stomach burning with acidity, and the pain was unbearable from midnight. I slept in the toilet,” she said.
She attributed the onset of her severe pain to watching a “disturbing video of the young girl in my home.” The shock from this video was so great, she claimed, that it nearly sent her into labour.
“I had been having severe stomach pain since I saw that disturbing video of the young girl in my home. I was so terrified that I literally went into labour.”
The pain became unbearable. Unable to cope, the star recounted: “I couldn’t bear it anymore… I rolled off, trying to reach their door while screaming in pain, that’s what finally woke them up.”
Her children found her collapsed on the toilet floor.
Rushed to the Emergency Room
Her children, worried by their mother’s condition, rushed her to the hospital at 6:00 a.m. through the emergency wing. However, instead of immediate care, they were met with a discouraging interaction with a nurse.
Akothee’s daughters, seeing their mother in agony, pleaded with the nurse for pain relief. The nurse’s response was reportedly cold and unsympathetic.
“But instead of showing compassion, she raised her voice and told them, ‘Go outside and wait in front there.’”
Akothee, who was leaning over and clutching her stomach, stated she had to defend her children while struggling to sit in a wheelchair. She reported losing all trust in the nurse’s ability to provide care.
Seeking Safety and Relief
Faced with a lack of compassion, Akothee said she told the nurse that if she could not treat her with dignity, she would rather seek care at another hospital. The nurse reportedly replied, “You are free to go,” and dumped them aside.
Akothee’s daughter, Vesha, even begged the nurse, saying, “Mummy is already here and she’s in pain.” But the star felt the trust had been completely lost.
The musician has since received medication and reported “some relief.”
“Though my stomach is tired and very painful. May I get well to protect my children.”
The star confirmed she had released the young girl who was working as a nanny to go back home. Akothee concluded by saying she had no energy for anyone else and needed to save herself first, adding, “That was too much for me.”
