Kenyan comedian Sammy Kioko has announced that he is putting his car up for sale to raise funds for his sister’s medical treatment.
The entertainer made the revelation through an emotional post on his Instagram stories, sharing details about the difficult decision and the urgency of his sister’s health situation.
In his statement, Kioko expressed gratitude to fans and friends who have reached out during the challenging period, explaining that selling his car — a vehicle he deeply treasures — was a step he had to take for his family.
“Guys, thank you for checking on us, for calls, encouragement, and prayers. Kwa wale wananijua, this car is my blessing for eight years. Kwa wale wananifuatilia for ten years, they know how I acquired this car. Sometimes, as a man, you have to do what you have to do even if it hurts,” he wrote.
He continued:
“I don’t want to say tunauza hii gari. I just want to say I want to dispose it — nataka kubariki mtu nayo with a good price. This November, my plan was just to take my sister to travel and go seek medical attention, and time is not on our side.”
Emotional Plea Amid Ongoing Struggles
The post comes days after Kioko shared a photo on his Facebook account of his sister receiving treatment in the hospital.
In the caption accompanying the image, he voiced frustration over delays in payment for a project he claimed that he completed for the Machakos County Government, funds he says are critical in financing his sister’s ongoing medical care.
“When you stay silent in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor! No one is asking for charity — it’s money for work done. That was her first surgery. We have been doing regular hospital checkups only waiting and hoping we will be paid, at least to finance her second surgery, which is due,” he alleged.
Kioko went on to urge the county government to prioritize humanity over politics, stating that his family’s appeal for help had been turned into a political issue.
“County government, let us uphold humanity and not everything is to be politicized! We called for help but ended up being political. It’s unfair, and all we need is our payments.”

Financial Challenges and Business Closure
The comedian’s latest revelation comes in the wake of recent financial challenges that have significantly affected his career and personal life.
Earlier, Kioko announced the closure of his shops and production areas, citing financial strain caused by unpaid work and rising business costs.
In a previous statement, he described the move as one of the most painful decisions he had to make but emphasized that he remained hopeful for better days ahead.
“The worst that I was fearing is happening. It’s with a heavy heart that we’re announcing the closure of our shops and production areas. Despite our best efforts, we’ve faced significant challenges that have made it impossible for us to continue operating,” he said in an earlier post.
As of now, the comedian remains focused on raising the required funds and has urged well-wishers to keep his family in their thoughts and prayers.
