In the lead up to the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations next week, the Government has intensified monitoring of the digital space to deter criminal elements intent on compromising the integrity of the national assessments.
Internal security and National Administration Principal Secretary Dr. Raymond Omollo has revealed that the National Command Centre for Examinations Security has been fully activated to coordinate real-time surveillance and response efforts across the country.
The multi-agency centre, which is domiciled at the Ministry of Interior and National Administration, is staffed by officers drawn from various security agencies, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of ICT, and the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC).
It provides a 24-hour monitoring and rapid-response mechanism against any form of malpractice or digital interference.
“The centre allows us to access and assess information in real time, and where there are gaps, we immediately intervene. So, our officers are monitoring various social media platforms to identify and neutralize individuals seeking to defraud parents, teachers, or candidates with fake exam leaks,” said Dr. Omollo.
He further noted that the government is on high alert to counter the fraudsters posing as exam insiders and soliciting money from unsuspecting citizens under the guise of sharing leaked materials.
“We have known that in previous years, there have been challenges of early exposure. The Command Centre is coordinating all efforts to ensure that anyone involved is apprehended and prosecuted without delay,” the PS emphasized.
Speaking in Starehe Sub-County, Nairobi, after presiding over the opening of a KPSEA and KJSEA examination container, Dr. Omollo assured all stakeholders that adequate security measures have been put in place to ensure the credible administration of all national exams.
He added that security teams at both national and grassroots levels remain fully alert in supporting KNEC to safeguard fairness, credibility, and public confidence in the examination process.
“We are already supporting the ongoing KJSEA and KPSEA examinations that began across the country on Monday. We shall sustain the same vigilance as KCSE candidates begin their papers next week,” the PS affirmed.
Additionally, he noted that the Command Centre is also prepared to coordinate the delivery of examination papers in areas affected by logistical challenges arising from the October-December 2025 short rains season, ensuring that all candidates can sit their exams as scheduled.
