Kenyan politician Geoffrey Mosiria has responded to a wave of online speculation following a viral video showing him with a woman seated in the back seat of his car.
The clip, which quickly spread across social media platforms, sparked numerous rumours about the nature of his relationship with the unidentified lady prompting Mosiria to address the matter directly.
In a statement posted on his X account, Mosiria dismissed the claims, describing them as unfounded and exaggerated.
He clarified that the woman seen in the car was simply a friend he was assisting, not someone involved with him romantically or otherwise.
“I’ve seen quite a number of wild speculations about the lady who was spotted in my car while I was addressing Larry Madowo, requesting him for the Takataka packages that many Kenyans had tagged me to collect and deliver to the designated point,” Mosiria wrote.

“I Am Not in Forex”
In his response, Mosiria took a light-hearted but firm tone, calling out what he termed “online detectives” for rushing to make assumptions based on a short video.
“First of all, mimi si wa Forex,” he quipped — a playful reference to recent internet jokes linking individuals involved in online trading schemes with controversy.
He further defended his actions, stating that there was nothing inappropriate about offering someone a ride or being seen with a female companion in public.

“Am I not allowed to drive around with my sister, child, female relatives or friends, or even a stranded lady who needs help, without being judged by online detectives jameni?” he asked, adding humorously, “Huyo mnangoja kuona nikama mtangoja sana.”
The Video That Sparked Speculation
The controversy began after a video circulated online showing Mosiria addressing journalist Larry Madowo while seated in his car.
Social media users, however, quickly noticed the presence of a woman who appeared to be hiding in the back seat.
The short clip went viral within hours, triggering discussions across various online platforms, with some users questioning the context of the scene.
A local blog, Ugi Media, was among the first to post the video, noting that Kenyans were curious about the lady seen in the back seat. The post fueled even more speculation, leading to widespread debate before Mosiria stepped in to clarify the situation.
Social Media Reactions
Following Mosiria’s explanation, reactions were mixed. Some users commended him for addressing the issue with humour and transparency, while others continued to question the incident.
Many, however, agreed that the viral moment reflected the growing culture of online scrutiny, where private moments can easily be misinterpreted once they reach social media.
Maintaining Perspective
Despite the online buzz, Mosiria appeared unbothered by the speculation. His calm response, laced with humour, seemed to diffuse tension while reinforcing his message about empathy and responsible judgment online.
