My Uncle Thought I Would Die in a Road Accident

Two days before I was supposed to return to Nairobi, I began to feel uneasy. It was not just the usual tension of travelling back to the city after spending time upcountry. This was heavier. Every time I thought about the journey, I felt as if something dark was waiting for me on the road.
