Bongo Flava superstar Rajab Abdul Kahali, popularly known as Harmonize, is making bold moves beyond the music charts, confirming his intentions to contest for the Tandahimba parliamentary seat. But for his legion of fans, the burning question isn’t if he’ll win, but what happens to the music?
Harmonize, in a candid Instagram story post, has now offered a glimpse into his plans, assuring his supporters that his political aspirations won’t silence his melodies.

In a vibrant and assertive message, Harmonize declared, “The next Parliament will be a vibe! Can’t imagine the swagger will be immense!!! Stop assuming, I am taking the constituency with CCM’s blessing, and I will represent the people of Tandahimba with hit songs coming out continuously.”
His statement makes it clear that while he’s aiming for a seat in the legislature, his music career is far from over. He envisions a future where political representation and hit-making go hand-in-hand.
Harmonize has openly declared his bid for the Tandahimba MP seat, located in Mtwara Region, southern Tanzania. This move comes ahead of Tanzania’s next general elections, which are constitutionally set for October 2025.
While the exact date for parliamentary nominations is yet to be fully confirmed, aspirants are already making their intentions known. Harmonize emphasized his desire for Tandahimba residents to choose him fairly, highlighting his roots and commitment to the area.

He even playfully called out the current MP, hinting at a lack of responsiveness,
“But unfortunately, the current MP, I’m not even sure if he has the number of my brother Hon. Jumaa Aweso.”
This isn’t the first time Tanzanian entertainment figures have ventured into the political arena. The country has seen a growing trend of celebrities successfully transitioning into politics, leveraging their public appeal and influence.
Notable names include:
Mwana FA (Hamis Mwinjuma): The veteran rapper successfully contested and became a Member of Parliament for Muheza constituency in 2020.
Jokate Mwegelo: The former beauty queen, actress, and entrepreneur was appointed District Commissioner for Kisarawe in 2018, showcasing a direct entry into executive government roles.
Babu Tale (Hamis Shaban Taletale): A renowned music manager and co-founder of WCB Wasafi, he also secured a parliamentary seat in Morogoro South in the 2020 elections.

Harmonize’s declaration follows in these footsteps, and he even referenced a symbolic journey: “God willing, I will tell you when I pick up the form, I will walk from Mtwara town on foot to Tandahimba to Newala to greet my elder Mkuchika along with my fellow CCM members, my fellow natives of Mtwara, while singing the name of our President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan for five more years!”
This visual commitment to his constituency, combined with his continued musical output, sets an intriguing precedent for his political journey, promising a blend of politics and popular hits.
