“Heaven Couldn’t Wait”: Jackie Matubia Announces Father’s Heartbreaking Passing

Kenyan actress Jackie Matubia and her family are in mourning following the passing of her beloved father.

The heartbreaking news was announced by Matubia on June 9, when she shared a solemn image of a lit white candle on her social media accompanied by the touching caption: “Heaven surely couldn’t wait for you, my father.”

The late Matubia patriarch had been battling stage 4 cancer for some time and was undergoing treatment in the hope of recovery. Jackie had first disclosed her father’s diagnosis in June 2024, bravely opening up about the family’s emotional journey. Despite the pain he endured, she often described him as strong and resilient, having gone through multiple rounds of chemotherapy.

At a past family gathering, Jackie’s father had shared his testimony, expressing that cancer was not a death sentence. Grateful for the support from his wife and children, he emphasised the importance of faith in his healing journey.

“Thank you. It is true cancer isn’t a death sentence. It depends on how you interact with your God. I know my God, she (Matubia) knows my God, and my family knows my God. I’m healed. There was a time I weighed just 47kgs — less than a bag of cement. Yet here I am, my hair is intact. If you’re going through something similar, just know there is a God in heaven, a healer. Haijalishi unapitia nini — it doesn’t matter what you’re going through — there’s always God,” he had said during the reunion.

Following the announcement, an outpouring of condolences flooded in from fans and fellow celebrities alike. Among those who reached out was fellow actress Kate Actress, who offered comforting words: “May you find comfort in knowing that you did your best, babe, and Dad is proud of you. Rest in peace, Baba Jacky.”

The news of Jackie’s loss has deeply moved many Kenyans, who continue to send their thoughts, prayers, and love to her and her family during this sorrowful time.
