In a revealing rapid-fire interview with Mpasho, the ever-popular Catherine Kamau, known affectionately by her fans as Kate Actress, threw open the doors to some lesser-known aspects of her life.
From surprising talents to academic journeys and the very first rung on her career ladder, the star, who shared her childhood nickname as “Shugu”, provided insights that offer a captivating glimpse into the woman behind the much-loved characters she portrays.
Fans might be surprised to learn about Kate Actress’s hidden talent. Beyond her acting prowess, she possesses a knack for vocal mimicry.
“I can do voice imitations very well”, she shared candidly, adding, “People don’t know that”
When probed about who she could imitate, she named the likes the first Nairobi Women Rep, Rachael Shebesh, and others.
However, to the playful disappointment of the interviewer (and likely viewers), she firmly declined to demonstrate, stating, “No, I’m not going to do any imitations now”.
Shifting from performance to plate, Kate Actress kept it simple when discussing her favorite meal. Without hesitation, she declared her culinary preference: “Anything to do with chicken”.
Looking back at her formative years, Kate Actress was open about her academic achievements. She divulged the results of her national primary school exams, stating that in KCPE, she had attained a score of “483”.
Moving on to KCSE exams, she revealed she scored a “B minus”. After high school, she pursued higher education, enrolling in a course where she majored in “Journalism”. However, she was frank about not completing the program, admitting, “I didn’t finish”.
Interestingly, her academic path in journalism directly led to her initial steps into the professional world. Kate confirmed that her very first job was true as a “journalist”. This early role saw her work as an “intern” at Baraka FM.
Reflecting on that time, she highlighted her capability in the field, stating confidently, “I’m a very good Swahili news journalist.”
Beyond these key revelations, the quickfire session touched on other personal details. Kate Actress mentioned that she cries “a lot”, and “Every day”, explaining, “I cry when I’m happy”.
She also shared that her dream car is a “G- Wagon”, while she currently drives a “GLC”.
