Former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua has raised concerns, alleging that unknown individuals have been following him. Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has alleged that unknown individuals are trailing and monitoring him.

The revelation drew reactions from Kenyans, with many expressing sympathy for his current challenges. What did Gachagua say about being trailed? Gachagua raised an alarm about his safety on his X account on Wednesday, November 20, claiming that security agents in unmarked cars have been following him.

He claimed that the agents have stationed themselves at the entrance of his residence in the capital, monitoring and noting everyone visiting him and his family.  “They trail me whenever I leave the house, even all the way to my rural home in Nyeri. Last Sunday, the saloon car below, parked at the entrance to my residence, followed me to PCEA Kerarapon Church, where I went for a late lunch, and back to the house!” Gachagua’s statement read in part.

Citing concerns over extrajudicial killings and forced abductions, he said he felt it necessary to inform Kenyans so they could hold the government accountable if anything happened to him. In a message seemingly directed at the Kenya Kwanza government, he urged them to leave him alone, since they orchestrated his removal from office.

“I request the state to leave me alone! You hounded me out of office, and you should now allow me to enjoy my peace as a private citizen,” he added. What did Kenyans say about Gachagua’s sentiments?

Kenyans, known for their active online presence, were quick to offer encouragement and sympathy to Gachagua. PK Selassie: “Stay strong Riggy G.” Omwamba: “This is totally unacceptable.” Mr. Right: “Take care mzee.” Nurse Karen: “They are scared you will spill the secrets.” Andrew M: “Is this the same country where Kizza Besigye was abducted.” Bonta: “Be strong and trust in God.” Eddie: “Truthful man all will be well.”

Has Gachagua disclosed details of car following him? The former deputy president was able to identify one of the vehicles he claimed has been trailing him. He singled out a saloon car, which he claimed was among the ones his tormentors had been using to trespass on his homes in Nairobi and Nyeri.

Seeking to identify who was closely monitoring him after his impeachment, he checked the NTSA portal for details about the saloon car.  Gachagua revealed that he discovered the vehicle’s license plate was registered to a lorry.
