Police in Suna West, Migori County are investigating circumstances surrounding the death of a 4-year-old girl, who is said to have drowned in River Migori.
Area police boss Chrispine Ogutu reported that the girl’s body was discovered by local residents.
The incident was subsequently reported to the authorities by the area assistant chief.
Ogutu noted that police are still trying to piece together the events leading up to the girl’s death.
He added that the child appeared to have sustained minor head injuries.
“The body of the deceased has been transported to Migori Level Four Hospital mortuary, where it will await an autopsy as part of our ongoing investigation,” Ogutu stated.
