Vihiga County will develop an official County Anthem that will serve as a symbol of the county’s identity so as to foster the county’s pride.

Speaking during the swearing-in of the County Flag and other Symbols Selection Panel at the County headquarters, Governor Wilber Ottichilo noted that the development and adoption of the official County Anthem is important in shaping the future of the County.

To build a united and prosperous county, the Governor said that Vihiga needed symbols that celebrate heritage and inspire aspirations of the people.

“Once in place, the anthem will promote unity and cohesion, celebrate identity and heritage, inspire pride and patriotism and enhance visibility and recognition,” Dr. Ottichilo said.

The panel is tasked with composing a compelling and memorable county anthem that reflects the spirit of the county by engaging residents in the anthem development process to ensure inclusivity and ownership.
