A devastated family in Nairobi is in the middle of a tough situation following the mysterious death of a loved one. Racheal Njoki Kariuki passed away in Saudi Arabia where she had travelled in search of greener pastures. The mother of two flew to the Gulf on Saturday, December 7, 2024, to work as a househelp only to die two weeks later. What do police reports say about Njoki’s death? Her body was transported back to Kenya but her family has been left with more questions than answers.”She constantly communicated with her kid until Saturday, January 4 when she went silent. Her silence raised concern among family members and we knew something was not right. Perhaps she was not okay. There were no efforts made by the employer or anyone to reach out to us and communicate what had happened,” Charles Gicheru, church elder said.
Police reports released upon investigations done in Saudi Arabia showed Njoki died a natural death. However, the deceased’s family refused to accept the report, suspecting there was foul play in their kin’s death. How old was Njoki when she died? “She was complaining of chest pains but she was never taken to the hospital. My sister asked when she died and was told on Wednesday, January 8. She was told this information on Monday, February 3. When she asked why it was not communicated earlier, she did not get a valid reason,” a family member said. She claimed the authorities knew about Njoki’s death but did not communicate early which raised a lot of concern. The family’s efforts to solve the puzzle surrounding the 37-year-old’s death have been unsuccessful.
The police advised the family not to carry out a postmortem until they received information from the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol).
