Walter Mong’are Nyambane Dismissed by Foreign Affairs Ministry: “With Immediate Effect”

Walter Onchonga Mong’are, popularly known as Nyambane, has been fired as the Director of Programmes, Advocacy, and Outreach under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Walter Mong’are Nyambane (pictured) was fired from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with immediate effect.  His sacking was announced in a memo marked as urgent on Wednesday, April 3, by Foreign Affairs Principal Secretary Korir Singoei. What PS Korir Singoei said about Nyambane’s sacking  Singoei said Nyambane was no longer authorised to transact any business on behalf of the ministry. “This is to inform that Walter Onchonga Mongáre, Director of Programmes (Advocacy & Outreach) is no longer authorised to act in any capacity on behalf of the State Department or myself,” Singoei said in a memo seen by TUKO.co.ke. Sing’oei instructed all director generals and heads of departments, divisions, and units to refrain from interacting with Nyambane in an official capacity. “This is therefore to instruct you to refrain, with immediate effect, from any official interactions and/or engagement with Mongáre,” he added. However, the PS did not provide specific reasons why the ministry fired Nyambane. Why Nyambane was disqualified from the 2022 polls In 2022, Nyambane made headlines after the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) disqualified him from running for the presidency under the Umoja Summit Party.  The electoral body summoned Mong’are just a few days after clearing him to vie for the presidency. However, IEBC chairperson Wafula Chebukati threw out Mong’are’s candidature over the lack of a degree certificate during the sermon. Other presidential aspirants who were denied clearance by IEBC include Thirdway Alliance party leader Ekuru Aukot, Jimi Wanjigi, evangelist Reuben Kigame and Independent candidate Eliud Muthiora Kiriara.
