A woman from Makuyu, Murang’a county, is desperately searching for her daughter who has been missing for three weeks. Nancy Mungai said her daughter Lucy Wamaitha disappeared while on a work trip with her employer. Wamaitha left home for Embu on Thursday, January 16, and went missing on the same day, as her worried mum recalled. The mum said the employer claimed he returned with Wamaitha but the 32-year-old lady has not been seen. . Was Wamaitha on good terms with her employer? “We talked with the employer, a young man who explained to me how they travelled to Embu, Chuka and Meru with my daughter. When they were coming back, they visited Java House in Embu for a meal before embarking on a journey to return to Thika. She allegedly told him to drop her at Section Two near Gatumaini,” she narrated.
Mungai disclosed her daughter’s phone went off at 7 pm the day she left home, adding that Wamaitha’s employer’s phone went off two hours later. She claimed Wamaitha and her employer were not on good terms due to mismanagement of finances in the company. “It was the young man who was misusing the money. The senior employers wanted to transfer the financial management responsibility to Wamaitha when they found out about the issue,” Mungai said. Wamaitha’s mum files missing person report at Thika Police Station The mum reported the missing person report at Thika Police Station as she distributed photos of her daughter who worked with a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) in her efforts to find the young lady. Police Commander Lawrence Muchangi confirmed Mungai had visited the station and filed the missing person report. He confirmed investigations were underway and they were doing everything possible to bring back Wamaitha.
