Career Timeline of Eric Latiff as He Exits Spice FM

Renowned journalist and broadcaster Eric Latiff has announced his departure from Standard Media Group.

In a statement on January 6, he reflected on his media career, particularly his role in launching The Situation Room on Spice FM.

He shared his excitement and nervousness about the show’s debut on August 20, 2019, alongside colleagues CT Muga, Ndu Okoh, and Njeri Thorne.

 

 

 

 

He praised their dedication and the support of the behind-the-scenes team, including producer Brian Evusa and Programmes Controller Brian Obara.

Latiff expressed gratitude for the journey, noting that The Situation Room had become a platform for Kenya’s biggest conversations, hosting thought leaders and professionals.

While announcing his departure, he acknowledged the difficult decision and described his time at Standard Media Group as a privilege.

Latiff stated that he will soon announce his next career move but will always cherish the opportunity to work with Kenya’s oldest private media house.

In addition to his successful journalism career, Eric is a Digital Marketing Strategist at Zeze Agency. Zeze Digital is a data-driven marketing agency that helps clients harness the power of digital platforms and social media for effective marketing and communication.

Eric’s background in telecommunications began at the Kenya Institute of Mass Communication (KIMC), where he was trained as a Telecommunications Engineer.

His early technical knowledge would later complement his broad experience in the media industry.

He previously worked at Capital FM as Senior Editor – Online, gaining valuable experience in journalism, TV and radio production, creative writing, broadcast engineering, on-air talent nurturing, and media management.

 

 

 

His passion for media development, especially as it relates to societal and technological progress, was widely recognized.

In 2006, Eric was part of the team assembled by Rose and David Kimotho to launch K24, Kenya’s first 24-hour news channel.

Later, while at Media Max, he also served as a production manager and producer at Kameme FM before moving to Family TV as a TV producer.
