A Kwale politician has asked NASA supporters to keep peace and avoid chaos over the repeat presidential election as they wait for direction from their leader Raila Odinga.
Woman representative Zuleikha Juma noted resorting to anarchy will not help Kenya and the agenda the national resistance movement has.
“Removing people from chaos is a very difficult task. Therefore we have to refrain from sliding into chaos as a country as we agitate for changes meant to benefit all Kenyans.”
But Juma asked Opposition supporters to stand firm as directed by Raila “since the world has realised the current regime does not have the support of the majority”.
She noted low voter numbers in many parts of the county clearly indicated most Kenyans support Raila’s quest to liberate the people and ensure they all benefit, “unlike today”.
“It is clear Kenyans know IEBC did not solve issues raised at the Supreme Court. Former commissioner Roselyn Akombe and chair Wafula Chebukati confirmed they could not conduct a free and fair election, This is the reason many did not vote,” she said.
“There was no need to go to an election where a winner was already known. There is need for Kenyans’ voice to be respected. Many kept off because their voices are not respected when they vote.”
The legislator reiterated that boycotting the repeat election was a message to the world that Kenyans did not want to participate in a process she said was forced by President Uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto.
Juma also commented on Chebukati’s estimation of a voter turnout of 6.5 million, equivalent to 48 per cent, saying it was “purely misleading”.
“That is the problem of cooking figures to suit certain people. The true picture shows this is only about 30 or so of people who voted,” she told journalists on Friday.
“We wonder where the tyranny of numbers is. The numbers that Jubilee leaders continue telling us they have…where were they on Thursday? Why didn’t they vote?”
The lawmaker noted that the danger of Uhuru getting votes from a few Kenyans there will be no development because majority of citizens will not support his administration.
The President’s legitimacy is at stake, she said, adding the low turnout in the county was also a clear indication that the ruling coalition has not made inroads as claimed.
She added the region continues to support Raila as he knows their problems.
“International reports say Sh200 billion went missing because of corruption,” she said, noting this is the problem “every time”.

Among scandals that have plagued Jubilee was the Eurobond valued at Sh250 billion.
On the issue of boycotting organisations, products and services associated with the Jubilee administration, Juma said they will not force anyone to comply once Raila gives the direction.
“But it is a way to ensure those oppressing Kenyans come to their senses. Kenyans are five times more likely than criminals to be killed by police under Jubilee’s leadership. So the good of traders of traders supporting Jubilee should be boycotted.”
