Milimani Law Court has directed the government to formally file evidence confirming the cancellation of the controversial Adani deals.   The directive comes after senior counsel Kalonzo Musyoka, alongside Eugene Wamalwa, Kibe Mungai, and other lawyers representing petitioners, demanded clarity on the matter during a hearing before Justice Bahati Mwamuye on Thursday, November 28.

The petitioners argued that significant developments had emerged since President William Ruto’s State of the Nation address on Thursday, November 21, where he terminated two major deals involving Indian billionaire Gautam Adani. These include the JKIA-Adani deal, which was still at the procurement stage, and the Adani-KETRACO agreement, which had already been signed.

“There must be an account for whoever brought Adani into the country. We are talking of a high level of corruption, which the US has taken seriously. We need to know what exactly was cancelled,” the Wiper Party leader told the court. Kalonzo highlighted that President Ruto cited “new information provided by investigative agencies and partner nations” as the basis for the cancellations.

However, despite these statements, Attorney General Dorcas Oduor has yet to submit evidence in court to substantiate the claims. Justice Mwamuye noted that the matter had initially come up for directions but observed that recent developments required the state to provide detailed documentation. The deals with Adani have faced intense scrutiny, especially after the billionaire’s indictment for fraud by US prosecutors.
