Comedian Oga Obinna has opened up about his parenting style, emphasizing the importance of discipline and rules in raising children. Oga Obinna said he monitors the content his kids watch. How does Oga Obinna raise his kids? In a video shared by @spmbuzzke, the comedian revealed the strict guidelines he has set for his four children, particularly concerning their media consumption. The father of four made it clear that certain types of music, such as Abarntone and Gengetone, are off-limits in his household.  Despite allowing his children to own phones, he said that he checks their devices to oversee their interactions and the content they access. The comedian also said he values open communication with his children, often discussing the reasons behind the restrictions. “In my house there are rules. Without rules there is indiscipline. There are rules everywhere. my kids don’t watch certain things they know for example Gengetone music does not play in my house, even Abarntone but I listen to it and I can create it but they know.” He further explained that he reasons with his children, helping them understand the consequences of their actions. How did Oga Obinna discipline his son? One particular measure he has taken is with his eldest son, whose phone has been stripped of its SIM card to prevent him from engaging in potentially harmful group chats with friends. “The reason is I reason with my kids. I sit down and explain if you do this this will happen. You know the Kimani Mbugua video my son is watching it so that he can learn…all my kids have phones but usiku wamelala napiga tero(when they are asleep at night, I go through their phones),” Obinna said. “Kuna time(There was a time) I took my son’s phone away. Hata saa hii ako na iPhone na haina sim card(Even now he has an iPhone with no sim card)…because group chat za school(because of school group chats). So nimempatia phone iko na kila kitu haina sim card. So hawezichat na mafriend wa shule.(So I have given him a phone that has everything apart from a sim card so he can’t chat with his school friends),” Obinna added. Oga Obinna takes his adopted kids shopping Recently, Obinna proved that he takes parenting seriously.  In a video, Obinna was seen preparing his adopted kids for school as they resumed studies for the second term. He picked them up from the children’s home and even laid down a red carpet for them to walk on. Then he took them to a shoe store where he bought them school shoes. Afterwards, Obinna took them to a supermarket, where he bought them anything they might need in school, including snacks and toiletries.
