Content creator Harriet Njenga has opened up about the challenges she has faced in her love life, revealing that one of her former boyfriends asked her to choose between their relationship and her job working for Mumias East MP Peter Salasya.
Speaking in an interview shared on Saturday, October 17, Harriet admitted that dating had become difficult because she felt some partners struggled to understand her professional life.
“I am having difficulty in dating. I don’t get understanding boyfriends,” she said.
The content creator explained that one of her former relationships was affected by speculation surrounding her working relationship with Salasya, as well as online rumours linking her to media personality Obinna.
According to Harriet, the rumours fuelled her former boyfriend’s insecurities, despite her insistence that there was nothing romantic happening.

Harriet Njenga refused to choose between love and work.
Harriet said her former partner appeared to believe online speculation rather than trusting her explanation of the situation.
“He tended to believe internet rumours, whereas when I come to tell you nothing is going on – I don’t have to explain myself further. You have to trust me as your girlfriend,” she said.
The disagreement reportedly escalated when her boyfriend gave her an ultimatum to stop working with Salasya.
Harriet, however, was unwilling to let her partner dictate her professional decisions. She said she ultimately chose to end the relationship rather than give up her work.
“I was like, he cannot control me, and we broke up,” she explained.
Harriet’s working relationship with Peter Salasya
Harriet’s work with Salasya has previously attracted public attention, with rumours suggesting the two were romantically involved. Both have dismissed the speculation, maintaining that their relationship was professional.

In July 2026, Harriet publicly announced her resignation from Salasya’s team following a separate disagreement that attracted widespread attention online.
She later reconciled with the MP and returned to work with him after he apologized and offered improved employment terms.
Her latest revelations provide another glimpse into the personal challenges she says have accompanied her high-profile working relationship.
Harriet has not suggested that her former boyfriend’s concerns were based on an actual romantic relationship with Salasya. Instead, she maintained that trust was central to the disagreement that ultimately ended their relationship.
