Nyota Ndogo Explains Why She Turned Down Husband’s Invitation to Denmark

Kenyan singer Nyota Ndogo has again declined an invitation from her Danish husband, Henning Nielsen, to fly to Denmark for a rest.

The Watu na Viatu hitmaker said she is staying in Kenya to focus on her newly opened hotel. She shared the update on her Instagram Page, alongside a photo of the couple.

Husband worried about her workload

Nielsen has been concerned about her health, Nyota said. He believes she looks tired and needs time away.

“My husband says he feels so sorry for me. He says he thinks I am getting too tired and I should go to Denmark and rest.”

She said she has not had a proper break since launching the business. In her view, it is too early to step away.

“The hotel is still new”

Nyota told her husband to give her some space for now. She said the venture needs her attention while it finds its feet.

“I told him to leave me alone for now because the hotel is still new and I need to give it attention.”

This is the second time she has turned down the trip.

December and January plan

Nyota has offered an alternative. Nielsen would travel to Kenya in December. The couple would then fly to Denmark together in January.

Fans were split. Some praised her drive and independence. Others said long-distance marriages can be hard to sustain.

Ten years of marriage across two countries

The couple married in May 2016 in a Swahili ceremony in Voi. They had spent two years in a long-distance relationship before that, travelling between Mombasa and Denmark.
