Police have arrested two suspects and recovered several Kenya Power electricity metres during an operation in Lucky Summer, Nairobi.
The operation was conducted on Tuesday by officers from Lucky Summer and Ruaraka police stations in collaboration with Kenya Power personnel.
According to a statement by the National Police Service, the operation followed information received by detectives regarding suspected stolen electricity metres being handled in the area.
During the operation, officers recovered several Kenya Power electricity metres and other assorted items suspected to have been stolen.
The two suspects were arrested and are expected to appear in court today as investigations continue. Police are also looking into other reported cases involving the theft of electricity equipment in the area.
“The operation was conducted by officers from Lucky Summer and Ruaraka Police Stations, working alongside Kenya Power personnel, following information received concerning stolen electricity meters within the area,” NPS said.
“The two suspects are expected to be arraigned in court as investigations into other reported cases continue.”
Investigators are seeking to establish where the recovered metres came from and whether the suspects are linked to other cases involving stolen electricity infrastructure.
The operation is part of efforts by police and Kenya Power to address the theft and illegal handling of electricity equipment.
Such theft can disrupt electricity services and pose risks to the public, particularly when electrical equipment is tampered with.
The National Police Service has urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report cases of theft and other criminal activities to the nearest police station.
Police have called on the public to report emergencies through the toll-free numbers 999 and 911.

Police have encouraged residents to work with law enforcement agencies by providing information that could help prevent theft and other criminal activities in their areas.
