President William Ruto’s son, George Ruto, has addressed his relationship status following his meeting with Teacher Cillah at her school in Westlands.
The visit came weeks after Cillah publicly expressed her interest in marrying George, turning their social media exchanges into one of the more closely followed entertainment stories in Kenya.
George visited Teacher Cillah at her school in Westlands, Nairobi, accompanied by his Pace Setter Magazine team and his flashy Mood Matatu.
The visit drew the attention of pupils, who gathered as the President’s son toured the school and interacted with the learners.
George addresses his relationship status
However, George used the opportunity to set the record straight about his relationship status.
Speaking during the visit, George appeared to suggest that he is already in a relationship, telling Teacher Cillah that he has a wife.
“I came to first of all set the record straight, niko na bibi wewe, but I think that it was good while it lasted,” George said.
At the Miss Universe Kenya 2026 grand finale on August 24, George described marriage as a lifelong commitment and rejected the idea that he and Cillah could agree to marry simply through their online interactions.
He went on to reflect on how the viral interaction had captured the attention of Kenyans, noting how social media has made the world increasingly connected.
“It showed how the world has become a global village,” he added.
How the Teacher Cillah saga started
The online exchange began earlier in August after Cillah publicly expressed interest in George following his sister Charlene Ruto’s traditional wedding.
George joined the banter when he responded to Cillah and asked for her Teachers Service Commission registration number.
The exchange continued, with Cillah making several humorous posts about a possible relationship, wedding preparations and becoming part of the Ruto family.
She even shared an AI-generated image depicting herself and George as a married couple.
The interaction attracted widespread attention, with Cillah also facing criticism and abusive messages online over her public pursuit of George.
George’s visit takes a different turn.
During Tuesday’s visit, George interacted with pupils, toured the school and planted a tree.
Cillah later described the visit as an emotional moment, saying the children would remember George’s appearance at the school.
George responded to her social media post, saying he was “honoured” to be part of her journey and encouraged her to continue with her work.
For now, George’s “niko na bibi” remark has added another chapter to a saga that began as social media banter but has since moved into an in-person meeting and a school support initiative.
