Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has condoled with the family of the late former Emurua Dikirr MP Johanna Ng’eno following the death of the lawmaker’s brother, Paul Ng’eno.
Gachagua expressed his condolences to Ng’eno’s mother, Mary Temas, saying the death came at a particularly painful time for the family, which has now lost two sons within a short period.
In a condolence message, Gachagua acknowledged the pain the family was going through and prayed for strength and comfort during the difficult period.
“To Mama Mary Temas, mother to the late Emurua Dikirr MP, Johanna Ng’eno, pole sana on the loss of your son, Paul Ng’eno, who had been hospitalised for a while,” Gachagua said.
Paul’s death came shortly after Gachagua visited the family on Friday and offered support amid concerns over his medical condition.
During the visit, Gachagua had promised to assist the family in settling Paul’s outstanding hospital bill.
The former Deputy President later expressed his sympathy following news of Paul’s death, acknowledging the pain of losing another son after the death of Johanna Ng’eno.
“No words of consolation are strong enough for you at this moment, but only God’s grace is sufficient. I pray for you, Mama Mary,” Gachagua said.
He said the family may struggle to understand why it had suffered another loss, but urged them to draw strength from their faith.
Gachagua noted that the loss was particularly painful given that the family had recently lost former Emurua Dikirr MP Johanna Ngeno.
“Many of us will ask, but the will of God is absolute. We may not understand the pain in your heart at the moment. But it is truly painful to lose your two sons within a short period,” he said.
Johanna Ng’eno died earlier this year following a helicopter crash, leaving his family and constituents in Emurua Dikirr mourning his death.
The former lawmaker was serving as the area MP before his death.
Gachagua extended his condolences beyond the immediate family to residents of Emurua Dikirr, describing Paul’s death as a loss to the community.
“To the people of Emurua Dikirr, poleni sana on the loss of Paul Ng’eno,” he said.
He also called on the bereaved family and residents to remain strong during the difficult period.
The ex-DP concluded his message with a prayer for the deceased, asking that Paul be granted eternal rest.
“May the soul of Paul Ng’eno rest in eternal peace, and may perpetual light shine upon him forever,” he said.
The family is yet to announce the cause of death or burial arrangements.
