Senate Deputy Minority Leader Enoch Wambua has assured residents of Tseikuru that the region stands to benefit significantly if Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka becomes Kenya’s president in the 2027 General Election.
Wambua said he envisioned a future in which Kalonzo occupies State House while he himself serves as Kitui governor.
“I can picture a bright future when Kalonzo will be President of Kenya and I, your favourite leader, will be the governor of Kitui,” said Wambua, the Kitui senator.
The senator said he was confident that the vision would soon become a reality, promising a brighter future for the people of Tseikuru, the semi-arid area where Kalonzo was born and raised.
Wambua spoke on Thursday in Tseikuru town, where he officiated the opening of a Wiper Party office.
He urged residents of Tseikuru and Kitui County at large to rally behind the Wiper Patriotic Front and help propel Kalonzo to the presidency in next year’s elections.
“We, the founders of Wiper and members of our own party, are the ones who will build it and make it more formidable. Let us recruit more members. Everyone is welcome,” said Wambua, a close ally of Kalonzo.
He said the party was also seeking to expand its membership among Kenyans in the diaspora, arguing that a stronger national and international support base would improve Wiper’s prospects in the 2027 presidential contest.
Wambua further said Wiper was developing strategies to challenge the dominance of the United Democratic Alliance and the Orange Democratic Movement in Western Kenya and the Rift Valley as the 2027 political campaigns gather momentum.
According to the senator, the strategy would include a sustained nationwide mobilisation drive, the establishment of party offices and regular targeted tours of counties.
He said the party was encouraged by what he described as Kalonzo’s growing support across the country, which he believes could position the Wiper leader as a strong contender against President William Ruto in the 2027 presidential race.
Wambua also pointed to recent political realignments as evidence of Wiper’s expanding national reach.
A few days ago, former Cabinet Secretary Aisha Jumwa, a prominent political figure from the Coast region, joined Wiper and announced that she would seek the Kilifi gubernatorial seat on the party’s ticket.
Jumwa has reportedly pledged to campaign against President Ruto in Kilifi County and popularise Wiper as she seeks to build her own political base ahead of the 2027 elections.
