President William Ruto’s motorcade has been involved in a tragic accident on the Embu-Meru Highway while heading to an event in Embu. President William Ruto’s speeding motorcade crashes along the Embu-Meru Highway.  The incident happened on Sunday, July 5, reportedly resulting in several injuries. What caused the Embu-Meru Highway accident? Ruto was attending a church service at the Full Gospel Churches of Kenya in Gatunduri, Manyatta Constituency, when the speeding motorcade collided with a private car in Mutunduri. Emergency responders and members of the public rushed to the scene, aiding the injured before they were taken to nearby health facilities for urgent treatment. A video circulating online captured the wrecked car and a towing truck, with witnesses calling for swift clearance of the road to allow easy passage for the head of state. They alleged that the ill-fated vehicle was speeding. “Hurry up! Hurry up! Engineer, the president is coming. There was a personal car that was also here,” the witnesses said. Meanwhile, the crash caused traffic disruption along the busy highway as authorities moved to clear the wreckage. The exact cause of the collision is yet to be established. Kenyans react to Ruto’s motorcade accident Daniel “They speed and recklessly overtake. These drivers are something else.” John Kirry Kabe “We need expansion of our roads. Barbara, zilijengwa in the 1960s and have been maintained until they are worn out. Magari yamekuwa mengi, not pikipiki, not baiskeli, not punda, not ngombe. Jameni, Kenya needs a road transport renaissance now and not later. We need dual carriageways in most parts of the country to ease loss of lives kila kukicha.”

Solomon Wa Elsie “And how is it that president motorcades were moving on a road with other cars…Na kwani hizi camera za NTSA ni za akina nani…Si washikwe.” Grace O Mugo “The same presidential motorcade was involved in an accident that claimed a life last year at Gakwegori (less than a km from Mutunduri).” Wanjiru Irungu “I witnessed the CJ motorcade; the security team is so rogue, hakuna jam, but the overtaking and pushing other vehicles away from the road were unwarranted. Acting like thieves on the run.” A section of Kenyans demand expansion of the Embu-Meru Highway. Photo: Embu Newspaper.
