Joan Karimi bagged a scholarship in the US.  A hardworking, brilliant, and accomplished woman has added her name to the growing list of successful Kenyans abroad following her latest achievement. Joan Karimi marked a significant milestone in the United States as she continued making strides in her medical career. Karimi received the prestigious scholarship award during a conference in the US as she prepares to advance further in her field.  Residency at University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences  “Kenyan physician and scholar Dr Joan Ruguru Kimani has earned international recognition after receiving the American Thoracic Society (ATS) Underrepresented Trainee Development Scholarship Award during the society’s 2026 conference in the United States. The award recognises promising medical professionals committed to advancing healthcare research and improving patient outcomes. Dr Kimani, who is set to begin her residency as a first-year pediatric resident at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, was honoured for her contributions and dedication to child health and respiratory disease prevention.

The blog has since reached thousands of families across Kenya and beyond. ” A graduate of Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degree, Dr Kimani has consistently championed child health, parenting education, and global healthcare initiatives. Her latest award further cements her status as one of Kenya’s rising medical professionals on the international stage,” the post concluded.
